Successful breast cancer awareness campaign

CeramTec Goes Pink: Overwhelming
World-wide Participation

CeramTec Group, 2016-11-08

On October 27, CeramTec started the “CeramTec goes pink” campaign day. Under the banner of the pink ribbon, the breast cancer awareness campaign, CeramTec organized a photography competition at all international locations referring to the "WEAR IT PINK" campaign, which is very well known in the Anglo-American realm (

The competition served to increase awareness for the campaign among staff – to great success – as the numerous submissions prove. The jury received entries from employees at our Plochingen, Lauf, Marktredwitz and Wittlich locations as well as from our international subsidiaries in Malaysia, Italy, the USA and China. Even employees who were working at trade fairs on the campaign day took the opportunity to implement the motto in an original way.

Ultimately, the winner was the entry from Malaysia. Nearly 100 employees participated in literally bringing the symbolic “pink ribbon” to life. They also created the ribbon symbol in the style of the traditional Hindu “kolam” and a campaign visual in colored rice. The jury awarded first place to this outstanding dedication. Ultimately these efforts lead to much more, which CeramTec member of the board and co-initiator of the campaign, Dr. Hadi Saleh, explains:

“I am thrilled over the great success we had with this wonderful campaign! Colleagues from all over the world called attention to the important topic of breast cancer prevention, thought about the topic together, and held very creative and, for some, incredibly elaborate photo shoots. This shows once more that no matter where in the world we are, we are one company. Thank you to everyone who participated! At this point I would like to extend a special thanks to our colleagues from Laurens from CeramTec North America, who organized an additional donation campaign on their own accord. They were able to collect approximately 4,000 USD more to benefit the National Breast Cancer Foundation.”

The donation from CeramTec North America complements the donation to the German Cancer Research Center with 2,000 euros and the donation to Pink Ribbon Deutschland, which came about through the sale of pink ribbon bows, with 1,200 euros. Pink Ribbon Deutschland supports the breast cancer awareness campaign in Germany and in neighboring German-speaking countries.
