Testing labs for ceramic materials obtain internationally independent testing laboratory status

CeramTec testing and calibration laboratories accredited according to DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025

The CeramTec Group's materials testing labs – which are responsible for clear, professional testing and calibration, from initial sampling to documenting the end results – were successfully accredited by the German Accreditation Body (DAkkS) according to the DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 standard.

This gives the respective facilities at CeramTec internationally independent testing laboratory status, thus raising the value of the test results determined here to an internationally recognized standard.

The “general competence requirements expected of testing and calibration laboratories” needed to satisfy DIN EN ISO/IEC 17025 are far more exacting than those of the DIN EN ISO 9001 standard, because they not only define the quality management prerequisites, but also outline specific competence requirements for accredited testing or calibration tasks.

Worth knowing:

CeramTec testing and calibration laboratories accreditation

The accreditation applies to testing methods in the following areas:

  • chemical,
  • physical-chemical,
  • physical-technical,
  • microscopic and
  • mechanical-technological testing

of ceramic raw materials, supplies and consumables, ceramic powders, ceramic specimens and ceramic components.

“Very few other testing labs in the field of technical ceramics manufacturing have earned this internationally accepted quality certificate with so many accredited testing methods.”

Dr. Ottmar Rosenfelder, retired
Head of the CeramTec Materials Testing Labs

The accreditation authorizes the CeramTec materials testing labs to use the DAkkS accreditation symbol in direct connection with accredited tests and the accreditation number.

The maintenance of the accreditation, once obtained, must be proven by regular surveillance audits. When this period expires, the company must be re-accredited through another new, full appraisal.
