CeramTec support for breast cancer prevention

Pink ribbon and pink gerberas for mindfulness

2018-10-24

The pink ribbon is known throughout the world as the symbol for the fight against breast cancer. Today on the day of action of this international initiative, “CeramTec goes pink” is the theme once again for the third time. To support the global awareness campaign, the ceramic specialists are staging staff activities at nearly all sites and are making donations of Euro 2000 for the German Cancer Research Center in Heidelberg and Euro 500 for Pink Ribbon Deutschland.

Clothing, decorations, food, drinks and plenty more are vibrant pink today. The Pink Ribbon Day at CeramTec once again demonstrates this year that it is possible to bring spectacular creativity and fun to a committed involvement in a serious issue, not just in terms of the information within the company but, above all, in terms of raising general public awareness. The initiative has an important goal: Breast cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer, with more than a million new diagnoses each year worldwide. But if it is detected at an early stage, the chances of recovery are good. Mindfulness campaigns which lead to the mindful treatment of our own bodies – in the form of self-examination and regular check-ups with the doctor – save lives.

Company and staff set an example together

The high-performance ceramic manufacturer is therefore distributing pink ribbons and free information material to staff today. They will also receive an artificial pink gerbera, with which CeramTec wishes to permanently help raise awareness about breast cancer prevention as an issue beyond 24 October as well. To help support the campaigns of the Pink Ribbon Deutschland Initiative, the company is making a donation of Euro 500 on the day of action. A cheque of Euro 2000 for the research work of the Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum (German Cancer Research Center) is to be presented at the German Congress of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (DGOU) currently being held in Berlin.

Staff are organising their own activities as well at the company’s premises and will be sharing these with colleagues and the public in the form of photos. The CeramTec invitation to join in has been taken up by the sites in Plochingen, Ebersbach, Lauf, Marktredwitz, Lohmar, Wittlich and Wilhermsdorf, as well as the international sites in Laurens and Willoughby (USA), Suzhou (China), Seremban (Malaysia), Southampton and Ruabon (England) und Sumperk (Czech Republic). Their creative ideas are presented here on this web page and in social media.
