Compamed is considered to be the leading showcase for the latest developments and products in the field of medical technology. The most innovative exhibitions at this international trade fair were honored with the “DeviceMed Award” prize for innovation on the first day of the event. The CeramTec Group’s PERLUCOR transparent ceramics received the coveted award in the materials category this year.

All of the entries submitted were reviewed and evaluated by a panel of experts. This jury analyzed the entries using criteria such as the level of technical innovation, cost-effectiveness and design and usability of the product. In the materials category, PERLUCOR was the jury’s material of choice. Dr. Lars Schnetter, Product Manager and Head of Research and Development at CeramTec-ETEC, accepted the award during a festive ceremony.

“Our development work has paid off – we already had a number of contacts regarding PERLUCOR during the trade fair – including some medical applications that we had not considered before.”

Dr. Lars Schnetter

PERLUCOR’s multifaceted and extraordinary properties deliver convincing performance. Alongside its high degree of transparency, this clear ceramic exhibits tremendous mechanical strength and hardness, making it the material of choice for use under extreme wear conditions. PERLUCOR also features extraordinary thermal and chemical stability: It can be used at temperatures of up to 1,600 degrees Celsius – and even sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, phosphoric acid, potassium hydroxide or sodium hydroxide are no match for PERLUCOR.
