With spades in hand, the construction work for a new sintering furnace hall in Marktredwitz officially began on May 20, 2015. The new multi-functional sintering furnace meets the latest requirements in terms of energy efficiency and environmental friendliness and will increase the production capacity for ceramic components in the Chemical Applications Division. The total investment volume amounts to approximately 3.5 million EUR and the project should be completed in December 2015.

The auspicious occasion was attended by Sigurd Adler, CeramTec CTO and Thomas Heise, Division Manager for the Chemical Applications Division, together with Oliver Weigel, the Mayor of Marktredwitz. In his speech, Thomas Heise emphasized the importance of this investment and highlighted the advantages of the new construction, saying, "This is a major investment for the Chemical Applications Division. The new construction fulfills all the safety and logistical requirements, particularly as it lies directly adjacent to our other production areas. We will sinter a range of products from our industrial and metallurgical market segments such as ceramic tubes and catalyst carriers in the new hall."

Heise thanked all the companies involved that contributed to the planning and implementation of the project, as well as CeramTec management board for the means and the confidence they have invested. He went on to thank the employees from the Chemical Applications Division and other CeramTec departments, whose specialist knowledge and ideas formed an important part of the planning process.
