Technical Ceramics in Production Engineering
and Metalworking

Conventional materials often fail when it comes to advanced technologies and wear protection in industrial applications, in equipment, systems and mechanical engineering processes, in forming and in other metalworking applications and tools because they are unable to meet the changing requirements in these industries. This is where technical ceramics come into play, providing custom-tailored solutions and enabling special applications.

Ceramic Tools for the Welding Process

CeramTec has developed a special silicon nitride ceramic for use in the welding process that is the most suitable material for welding tools such as welding rollers, centering pins and gas nozzles. The outcome: Welding process components featuring remarkable hardness and wear resistance, and very high temperature and chemical resistance.

Ceramic Tools for the Metal Forming Process

When forming metals – either in casting, rolling, tube drawing, bending or widening – the tools that are used are subject to tremendous forces and stress. Depending on the material used, these tools can suffer extreme wear. This is why the forming process is yet another field where advanced ceramics from CeramTec offer convincing proof of their strengths.
