The BIOLOX® Lunch Symposium in occasion of EFORT 2015 hosted more than 200 surgeons from the whole world. Presentations led by D.Phil. (Oxon) A. Seth Greenwald and Thorsten Gehrke, MD, were focused on ceramic bearing couple use in total hip arthroplasty. The key orthopaedic topics, such as Periprosthetic Joint Infection and Fretting & Corrosion, have been presented and discussed together with information from registers and implant performance. Clinical practice has been covered for THR with ceramic-on-ceramic, complemented with presentations on special use of ceramic for dysplastic young patients and usage of ceramic in revision hip replacement. The speakers who participated were Prof. Tikhilov (Russia), Prof. Thorey (Germany), Prof. Binazzi (Italy), Dr. Kurtz (USA), and Prof. Dufek (Germany).
