Heinz-Mittelmeier Research Award

Award for Ceramic Implant Applications
in Arthroplasty

The “Heinz-Mittelmeier Research Award” for ceramic implant applications in arthroplasty
by the German Society for Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Surgery e.V. (DGOOC) – endowed
by CeramTec GmbH.

2017 Competition

The German Society for Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Surgery e.V. (DGOOC) presents the EUR 5,000 Heinz-Mittelmeier Research Award in collaboration with CeramTec GmbH each year (formerly known as the BIOLOX® Award – until 2003).

The award is offered to young doctors, engineers and scientists age 40 and under for outstanding research and development work in the field of bioceramics and the problem of wear in joint replacements and in combination with clinical results of ceramic implants.

Work may be published in scientific journals or in book form. Unpublished manuscripts that are intended for publication or have already been submitted for publication are also accepted along with graduate theses, dissertations and post-doctoral dissertations. Only work that has already received a similar award is excluded from the competition.

The winner is chosen by a DGOOC jury. The 2017 research award will be presented during the jointly sponsored congress by the German Society for Orthopaedics and Orthopaedic Surgery (DGOOC), the German Association for Trauma Surgery (DGU) and the Professional Association of Orthopaedists and Trauma Surgeons (BVOU) from October 24 to 27, 2017 in Berlin.

To participate in the competition send the work in German or English until July 31, 2017 with a corresponding declaration that your work has not been distinguished with a similar award solely via email to: .
