Creating sparks

A distinction is made between two basic lighter types, depending on whether the unit operates on the squeeze or impact principle.

For the use in squeeze igniters CeramTec has developed SONOX^® P41 material, while impact type igniters are preferably made of SONOX^® P5.

Almost all of CeramTec's piezoceramic cylinders are supplied with ground front and end faces, which gives these components a parallelism better than 15 μm.
