Our Mission: For Our Environment

The environmental management system of CeramTec AG has been certified in accordance with DIN EN ISO 14001:2004.

We act in a responsible manner toward society and the environment.

We base our actions on the principles of economy, ecology and social obligation. It is our aim to develop and manufacture our products in such a way that they can be created and used in a safe and ecologically sound manner, so that any production waste is avoided or recycled, or, if neither avoidable nor recyclable, can be properly disposed of. We take on the challenge of safety, health and environmental protection with initiative and responsibility. We employ an integrated management system, which ensures that the following safety, health and environmental guidelines are observed and that proper procedures are followed in case of emergency:

  1. Environmental protection, which includes ensuring clean water, emissions control, soil conservation and responsible waste management, together with health and safety, encompassing occupational safety, health, product safety and plant safety, are a major commitment for us; they are as important to our company as our commercial goals.
  2. For us, the principles of health, safety and environmental protection mean acting in absolute conformance with the law, regulations and official directives.
  3. Out of our sense of responsibility to our employees, society and the environment, we take necessary action even without official orders and proceed on our own initiative, going above and beyond the legal requirement.
  4. The prevention or limitation or environmental problems in the manufacture, storage, transport and use of our products and in their subsequent disposition is both the goal and the ongoing challenge of our research, development and production.
  5. Used raw materials and recyclable waste products are employed wherever possible and in an energy-saving manner in order to protect the environment and conserve resources.
  6. We provide for the legal and harmless disposal of our waste products that are neither reusable nor recyclable.
  7. We are constantly improving the level of knowledge of our employees by various means, such as technical information seminars, regular training sessions and periodic instruction.
  8. We maintain contact with the local neighborhood by providing information on the activities in our production facilities, in order to allay any fears that may be harbored as to possible risks to human health and the environment.
  9. We seek an open exchange of information with the legal authorities and cooperate with them on environmental and safety projects.
  10. We give our customers comprehensive instruction regarding the environmental and safety characteristics of our products and work continuously to improve our understanding of these matters.
  11. We use advanced, state-of-the-art methods and equipment in our facilities in the pursuit of our health, safety and environmental goals.
  12. We regularly monitor the safety, health and environmental impact of our operations, using the information thus obtained to operate and improve our facilities so as to minimize the effect on the environment and our surroundings.
  13. Environment and safety are an integral part of our ongoing efforts toward company-wide improvement. We call for and expect improvement activities on the part of our employees, within the framework of our CIP and Idea Management/suggestion programs.
  14. All employees, no matter what their position in the company, are responsible to themselves and those around them for safety, health and environmental protection.
