Long term secure fixation of the cup insert in the metal acetabular shell is achieved by means of the CeraLock® fixation concept. This fixation concept relies upon the correct positioning by the surgeon of two specially-designed conical tapers, one on the outer surface of the cup insert and one on the inner surface of the metal acetabular shell. This concept allows not only for fixation, but also for interoperative interchangeability. Such interchangeability allows the surgeon to optimise the system being implanted.
