Seal rings in high-performance ceramics live longer

Wherever fluids are pumped, compressed or stirred, it is the bearings and face seal rings that concern design engineers in particular. The type of material used for these parts has a vast impact on operational reliability and durability, especially when critical media are involved.

Due to their outstanding chemical and physical properties as well as their homogeneous microstructure, our high-performance ceramics have in many instances displaced conventional materials. Their functional reliability is the outcome of such factors as:

  • high wear resistance
  • corrosion resistance
  • ability to withstand high temperatures and
  • imperviousness to sudden fluctuations in temperature.

By mating aluminum oxides and silicon carbides we are able to tune the sliding and sealing properties very closely to the actual operating environment. Combined bearings in high-performance ceramics are remarkable for their lightness, stiffness, low centrifugal forces and good emergency and dry running properties.

Our range of face seal rings and bearings embraces a wide array, stretching from a few to around 900 mm especially in Silicon Carbide (SiC). And if you're looking for something special, we are also developing designs and shapes.
