Ultrasonic Air Transducers
A piezoelectric transducer emits a short ultrasonic pulse which is reflected
by an obstacle before being received again by the same sensor. The distance
between the transmitter and the obstacle can be calculated from the beam
transit time. Such sensors are used in trucks (e.g., to give a precise
indication of the distance to the loading dock when backing), or as a
parking aid for passenger car.
