Grinding Media

Ceramic balls and mill linings are suitable for those applications in which a high efficiency of milling is required, as well as a low abrasion of the grinding media. In a lot of processes iron-free grinding by using ceramics is a very important necessity. This avoids unwanted impurities within the material to be ground. Ceramic grinding media are also used for applications in which mixing and dispersing effects are dominant.

In the majority of those grinding processes, steatite and alumina are the most common ceramic materials for balls and lining bricks.

CeramTec supplies grinding media preferably based on steatite. These products are available in numerous dimensions to meet the requirements of specific grinding processes and milling equipment. Grinding beads for use in speed or attrition mills are offered in steatite and alumina.
